Remarks                                 :

The number “A50” comes from the 1889 Hawksley catalogue, where it is called the “Hawksley’s Patent “Clip” Cartridge Turnover”

It is sometimes difficult to decide whether it is a A50, a A44 or a AA44. If possible it is mentioned at this place.

There is quite some variation in the lengths of the shell  tubes.

There is also quite some variation in the top of the screw of the table clamp. This one is triangle and has a fixed connection  Some tops are triangle shaped, some square, some round

Sometimes it is so difficult  to see of what material the handles are made. Horn can be as dark as ebony. They feel almost the same. I try to find out with a flame. The smell is different.

With “length of the back” is meant the turning part of the tool that holds the turning lever.. Usually it is 10-11 mm long.

Because of the ebony handles, the good quality non painted levers  this must be a A44 model
